Critique Group -- More Information
The Critique Group is an informal group that (usually) meets the fourth Tuesday of the month from 7-9 pm at the clubhouse. The group provides an opportunity for people to get feedback and discuss their images in a supportive, constructive, positive environment. PACT members are invited to bring 2-4 images on a flash drive, CD, or in print form. Images are projected on a screen and everyone present offers feedback. This is not the setting to bring your most fabulous, “publication ready” images, but rather those images that you’d like some help with: they don’t quite work and you’re not sure why or you’ve edited several versions and you’d like feedback on which works best. Some people choose to bring in images they’re preparing for competition. Club members, especially newer photographers, may find the idea of having their pictures “critiqued” intimidating, but those who take the plunge and attend one our meetings typically find it to be helpful, thought-provoking, and not nearly as intimidating as they feared!
Attendees are always welcome to bring whatever images they choose, but we do sometimes issue a challenge to give individuals some inspiration to go shooting. Most recent challenges included “bokeh” and “backlight.” No rules (other than family friendly), no restrictions, just whatever images the challenge inspires. There is no specific challenge, but people who attend will be invited to bring some of their favorite images from the year. Again, maybe these aren’t “prize worthy” pictures, but just the ones for which you have a particular fondness or attachment.
Meetings are facilitated by Diane Lewis, but feedback is offered by everyone present. Diane, while happy to answer questions from anyone considering going, is by no means the final arbiter of all things photographic. This is a group effort, with everyone learning from each other. Come join us!
